Worth reading once!!!

One of the Best Mails I ever read....

The train has started moving. It is packed with people of all ages, mostly with the working men and women and young college guys and gals. Near the window, seated a old man with his 30 year old son. As the train moves by, the son is overwhelmed with joy as he was thrilled with the scenery outside..

" See dad, the scenery of green trees moving away is very beautiful"

This behavior from a thirty year old son made the other people feel strange about him. Every one started murmuring something or other about this son."This guy seems to be a krack.." newly married Anil whispered to his wife.

Suddenly it started raining... Rain drops fell on the travelers through the opened window. The Thirty year old son , filled with joy " see dad, how beautiful the rain is .."
Anil's wife got irritated with the rain drops spoiling her new suit.

Anil ," cant you see its raining, you old man, if ur son is not feeling well get him soon to a mental asylum..and dont disturb public henceforth"

The old man hesitated first and then in a low tone replied " we are on the way back from hospital, my son got discharged today morning , he was a blind by birth, last week only he got his vision, these rain and nature are new to his eyes.. Please forgive us for the inconvenience caused..."

The things we see may be right from our perspective until we know the truth. But when we know the truth our reaction to that will hurt even us.

So try to understand the problem better before taking a harsh action.

Just for Laughs

I got this email from a friend recently, she clearly has a big decision to make, and I didn’t feel qualified to answer her question for her, so with her permission, I have published her email on here. Please give your answers in the comments section.

Dear Bai,

I really need some advice on what could be one of the most dramatic decisions I’ve ever made in my life. I suspect that my boyfriend has been cheating on me for some time now…
My bf has been “going out with the girls” much more lately but when I ask their names he just says, “Some friends from work you don’t know yet.”

I stay up late to look for the taxi bringing him home, but he always walks down the drive as if he has gotten out of the car round the corner, since I can hear a car somewhere. I really think he’s isn’t arriving by taxi…

Once I picked up his cell phone to see what time it was and he went crazy and told me that I should never touch his phone again and doubtedly asked “why was I checking up on him?”
You can see I’m nervous to bring up the subject with my boyfriend because I think deep down I’m not sure I want to admit truth, but last night he went out again and I decided to get to the bottom of things.

I decided to hide out near the bushes in the front yard so I could get a good view of the whole street when he came home. It was at that moment; sitting in the bushes with my wireless laptop, that I decided my PC is too damn slow and needs an update.
So should I finally start using Windows Vista or do you think I should keep using XP?

Financial Crisis

Well frends,

Thought of writing sumthing useful, so came up with the post abt “Financial Crisis”.
I am here to write wat I feel, my way of understanding things…cheer me up by writing ur views.

Financial crisis is a situation wen sum institutions suddenly lose a large part of their value/money. Recently the financial crisis in Us, had shaken the entire world.

I am hearing various terms like recession, inflation…What r all these…what thy exactly mean?? Y the financial crisis in one country is affecting the whole world… Y the rich get richer and the poor get poorer… Is it the right time to buy a house/property? Or should v invest our money in GOLD... (which is considered always as a profitable asset..) Is software industry is stable?? Is it the right time to do an MBA (due to shrinking job market in US and UK)?? Does the financial crisis affect the Real-estates business and Construction industry?? Will financial crisis change the India’s attitude towards MONEY? Is it safe to use credit cards while shopping (Due to bankrupt!!)

Let me start my views on these questions!!

As the financial crisis hit US, there was the downfall in the turnover for most of the companies….Many banks like ICICI (though thy didn’t accept the fact) in India also faced such situation. The case of ICICI is the worst as I saw many ppl standing in long queue withdrawing the entire amount thy deposited.

Due to financial crisis in US, Almost all the countries was affected including India which depends upon US for its software development/Projects….Most of the Software companies get their projects from US.. Many software companies in order to sustain thier profit, they reduced the salary by certain percent and many even gave pink slips (Remove the employess with no reason) to their employee’s.

Let me ask one thing? Is this financial crisis affects Ashiwarya or Big B in spending their money? Is it affecting Sachin Tendulakar or Ambani brothers in any way? They are still spending money lavishly . Mukesh Ambani bought his wife Nita Ambani a Rs. 242 crore Airbus 319 corporate jet as a birthday gift (What she gonna do with that yaar…is she gonna drive it all alone...). Mukesh is probably hoping to give his wife Nita a gift most women can only dream of - a 27-storey mansion. The house is currently under construction and is expected to be ready by next year. Next year I ll suggest Mukesh to buy a country and name it Nitaland!!! Sounds very silly na!!!!

Then it makes me to ask whether software industry is stable or not? Cost-cutting by companies is the most famous term that u can come across any paper. Cost cutting in terms of giving Pink slips, no hike in salary, reduction in wages to certain percent, no extra allowances like medical, travel etc. were the steps taken by the companies.

Placement cell is affected vigorously… Still companies like Wipro have not called up the students whom they recruited recently.

Nowadays MBA students are facing a bizarre job scenario. Though MBA degree is a long term value addition to one’s resume and will not lose its value at any cost. My question is “ Is this the right time to do an MBA from reputed foreign university? A shrinkage job market in the US & UK, bad education loans, increased rate of interest, rupee depreciation, rising cost of living abroad are the reasons which makes ppl to think twice before flying abroad.

Finding Answers to rest of the Questions!!!! Meanwhile Knowledge shared is like knowledge gained!!! So start sharing it!!!!

Life @ pondicherry - Part II

I think v the beach-deprived people from Bangalore definitely need to drive down once in a while (about 6-7 hours) to enjoy the beautiful beaches.
After Beach, soon which comes to my mind is SHOPPING…which I luv to do…Outing with my friends is one of my all-time favorite activity!!

Pondicherry consists of parallel and perpendicular streets without zigzag turns. So even if u get lost, u can find out the way!! That’s the specialty of Pondicherry!! Ranging from Raymond shop to platform sellers, from Pizza corner to road side hotels...from Grocery shop like Nilgiris to Vegetable/ Fish markets….all comes within the four corners of Pondicherry.

Most ppl park their vehicles at one place and shop till they drop. During festivals, you can see hundreds of heads in the Central shopping area and also in beach…Being a civil engineer, I admire the infrastructure development of Pondicherry...You can ask me wat attracted me? The Beaches, Ashrams, Temples, Parks, Petrol banks, Bank branches, ATM centers, Markets, Food courts, Shopping Malls, Recreational Centers, Large to small accessories….everything can be reached by feet.

We gals from hostel take the list of our one month needs, shop from 3 pm to 9pm (though our intime is 8.30 pm)…Coming late to hostel is always a thrill for US…lol...

While saying abt shopping, important point which I should mention is COST…of course u won’t get the fashionable, modernable as u get in big cities like Bangalore, but still wide varieties can be seen within your budget…

Even now, my mom whenever I go to Pondicherry, gives me a BIG (quite a big yar..) list which includes cashews, groundnuts, oils, other grocery items, Incent sticks frm Aurobindo Ashram, decorative items from platforms and it goes on and on….

A must see place in Pondicherry is Auroville - which is about half an hour’s drive away. Auroville was built by a French lady now known as the ‘Mother,’ a disciple of Sri Aurobindo.

As soon as you enter, you ll be welcomed by wide variety of plants and flowers…The samathi is decorated everyday with rainbow colors of flowers…. (I always wonder how they arrange it daily awesomely) you can always find the pin drop of silence there.

While you come out, I am sure you feel that u r relieved of stress and tension and you gain the confidence to face the problem with courage. Your mind is freed now. You feel as if you have got the POWER to WIN!!!

I never missed a chance of going to ashram at least once in a month. What a calm serenity…Its really HEAVEN IN EARTH!!!

Outside people can also stay in ashram’s guest house which is located in a serene atmosphere, just opposite the beach. The rooms were names after various English words such as Passion, Serene, Love etc.

Then comes the Auroville - A universal town which wants to be a place where men and women of all countries live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity.

It is also called as Matrimandir. It has been beautifully planned and constructed (Civil Engineers are indeed builders to the nation… just like me...Lol). It also has its solar power plant and is surrounded by manicured gardens.
When there is no sun or after the sunset, the sunray on the globe is replaced by beam from a solar powered light.

With this, let me give full stop to this post. By now you would have got the desire to land in Pondicherry. What 4 waiting... Start booking Tickets. Happy journey!!!

Life @ Pondicherry - Part I

Hai frends!!
I am just bak with an interesting post… (I am sorry for not postin last week...i was spending time with my dad who has come home for GJ holidays...)
So frends...Tis week I thought to put some spotlight on “My life in Pondicherry”...in short as “Pondy”….presently as “Puducherry”...huh this name sucks na…

Well wat comes to my mind wen I hear the name “Pondicherry” is…wow...my native place…the place which has taken care of me for the past 21 yrs…I did my schooling and college there…From my childhood days, I always saw a stead-fast development in the city just like in myself…hahahha

The place which has taught me Folk dance (includes my first-stage performance), Classical Music ( Sa re Ga Ma Pa Tha Ne Saa) and took certain hindi classes for me( kya aapko hindi maalum hai?)…,finally gave certification in typewriting and AutoCAD.. All glory to Pondicherry..!!! Till my 7th std, I was just my mom’s kid..not knowing of places, not even the streets or road’s name…Later on , It was wen I joined CLUNY School, slowly I started to discover the already discovered Pondicherry with my skool friends..it was from my college 2nd yr, the year I joined hostel..Leavin behind my parents in b’lore...My discovery’s was at peak...

To start with, Pondicherry has a lovely beach that stretches with no ends… the sea crashing onto the rocks is such a beautiful sight!!Clean roads, a small parapet wall, sitting benches and recently constructed small bamboo tents for ppl 4 chit-chats…all make the beach an enjoyable place to visit. In short u’ll fall in love with Pondicherry beach at very first-sight..!!!
I have gone to beach many times with my hostel buddies and my group in class. I never hesitate to travel from kalapet (almost 8-9 kms away from town..!!) to beach..For most of us Gandhi statue is an attraction in the beach and it is our gathering place. There will b always one exhibition or the other selling all girlish items…. I luv to do shoppin over there!!!

With just 20 to 40 bucks, we can leave with our stomach full..I ve never left the beach without having at least a choco-bar (forgive me mom for not telling u!!!)…Low-cost snacks like mango slices with spicy powder, yummy potato chips, all chat items, mouth-watering icecreams rangin from kutch-ice ( in fact one of my close frends nick name is also kutch-ice oly..tats is a different story..) to choco-bar.., sliced and salty cucumber, samosas, panchu muttai , sundal with small bytes of raw mango ( of course, lover’s special..Lol) all kinda’s of bajjis to bonda’s served vid spicy chill-sauce….hmmmmm…isn’t ur tongue watering now..
One of my visits to beach with lavi, mano, reva, sriji, jyothi and dathi was the most treasured one...

We group of 9 gals in my class bunked classes and went to kalapet beach and also with hostel buddies I had gone to Auroville beach where v had (also DID..!!) lots of lotties…

Along ECR road also, we can see the wide spread Bay of Bengal. One day I and padma went a ride in a friend’s scooty in the full stretch of ECR road…Indeed an unforgettable ride!!
All range of hotels can be seen near the coastal area. And the most attracted one among ppl is Promenade which is a luxury 5STAR hotel. Do u no what was my b day gift frm my brother?? I can treat my friends in any hotel for the bill worth 1500 bucks!!! I was really flyin high on the eve of 4th Nov. I informed lavi and arundhathi and and atlast v decided @ midn9 to taste in Promenade!! we were amazed to see the interiors..We ate nicely for 1200 bucks. There is a 50-50 story behind tis treat..me, lavi and dathi will burst out in laughter wenever v remember 50-50( Ask me in person!!)

During my last visit (august 08), myself and padhu walked from one end to the other talking abt everything under the sky from 6.30 to 8.30 pm..!! we reached home late by 9 pm!!! It was one of my memorable moments in life...

Memories continue till next post…till then WAIT & WATCH!!!

Add “ICE” n ur Mob Phone

Important Information to all my buddies!!!!

Isn't it true that we all carry our mobile phones with hundreds of names/numbers stored in its memory but yet nobody other than ourselves, know which of these numbers belong to our near and dear ones?

Let us think of a scenario wherein;

We are involved in an accident or had a heart attack and the people attending us got hold of our mobile phone but don't know which number to call to inform our friends or family members. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency?

For this reason, we must have one or more telephone numbers stored under the name ICE (In case of Emergency) in our mobile phones.

Read below for more details......

"ICE" Campaign

Recently, the concept of "ICE" is catching up quickly. It is simple, an important method to contact during emergency situations.

As most of us carry a mobile phone, all we need to do is store the number of a person who should be contacted during emergency as "ICE" (meaning In Case of Emergency).

In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff or any one on the site would be able to quickly contact your next of kin, by simply dialling the number stored as "ICE".

Please pass on this information. This might help some one or our self !

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE-1, ICE-2 and ICE-3 etc.

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our mobile phones today!
Remember: ICE: means In Case of Emergency.

This is very simple to do and very useful

Aamir Khan – Mr. Perfectionist

I am writing tis post about a person whom i ADORE a lot!!!

Frends, As u all know that Aamir Khan’s debut cum directorial movie Taare Zameen Par has been selected for OSCAR. The actor is busy packing his bags for a visit to the Academy awards for the third time.

Third time lucky?
Aamir seems to b very lucky as – this is his third film to be selected to represent India at the Oscars. The first was as producer and actor of Lagaan and it has made in the best foreign film category. It is a film that is extremely close to my heart. The best part of the film is - the art competition tat is shown in the last twenty minutes. My emotions reach high as the kid regains his confidence. The finale would melt even the stone-hearted!!

His movies like Rang de basanti and Lagaan are according to me - “Life-Time movie"- the movies which u can watch again and again. These movies stir our hearts and wake up our minds. Really Aamir Khan is gifted with imaginative powers. In Rang de basanti, the moral of the story that “The guilty do not go unpunished” indeed should be appreciated. In lagaan, we learnt about hardwork and teamwork...how he formed a team, encouraged the team, motivated the team, guided them in all possible means and finally how he accomplished the goal.

Now let us see the Last seven years’ entries in Oscar Award Function:
2000: Hey Ram
2001: Lagaan
2002: Devdas
2003: No submission
2004: Shwaas
2005: Paheli
2006: Rang De Basanti
2007: Eklavya: The Royal Guard
2008: Taare Zameen Par

This is the message, which Aamir Khan said to the world…
“Do yourselves a favor. Watch Taare Zameen Par with your child. It will change your world. It will also change the way you look at your kids!!”

All these films teach us something in one or other way.. Like a Coin, A film will have both positive and negative messages. According to me, It s always in our hands to see the positive side of any film.

Best wishes to him for his next movie Ghajini.

Bangalore Traffic - Unpredictable

Well frends, u can wonder after seein the title, y I am talkin abt a SOCIAL topic...
Coz bangalore traffic is the one wich i am seeing daily in my routine life...I almost travel in roads for 3 hrs a day...
Thought i can share my daily adventure, so i am here with tis post...[:)]
Have a quick look @ Bangalore Traffic.....

Bangalore - A city of flyovers, underpasses, one ways..!!!
What have been improved with tis traffic is " Sales of Mobile phones with MP3 player"...u can see people with their ear phones or ipods while travelling to a destination in bangalore... Even while waiting in traffic signals, u can see vendors sellin Pop corns with a thoughtful sentence.."Have a BREAK"...[:)]...

Of course u wld laugh if i say.." Travellin within b'lore city is like travellin from pondicherry to cuddalore or Villupuram"..lol...
B'lore is very famous for POT HOLES...
Potholes are like our friends - Tis is the daily mantra of city goers like me....
You greet old ones and meet new ones almost everyday....

And also u can see big advertising banners standing erect with thier Brand Ambassador as Bollyhood stars.....like Tata sky, Samsung, various jewellers and textile showrooms...

Are they called as Attraction? distraction in traffic? relaxation in a jam? ;)...

I learnt these two tings from b'lore traffic...
  • When on foot, never use pedestrian walks...
As you will be in the motorcyclists’ way...[-;]

  • Driving in Bangalore requires double license...
One for your driving skill, the other for ability to cover up for the lack of it in others..[:)]

Well, there is an element of truth in tis. "Bangalore traffic is bad".. BUT (the big BUT here), I am absolutely OK with the traffic and I love the city the way it is ...[:)]
